Wish WHT wasn’t here

What an irresponsible news story your paper allowed to be printed. Your staff and editors responsible for the story line should be ashamed of themselves.

Whatever your likes or dislikes are, leave them on the opinion page.

Ouch, letter writer gets corrected

FYI — It’s true that “The Star Spangled Banner” was written by Francis Scott Key after the attack of Fort McHenry. However, it was during the War of 1812, not the Revolutionary War. He wrote this on Sept. 14, 1814.

Bike loop around the belt

I have shared this idea with the county and I called the chamber of commerce.

I am visualizing a 50-mile-wide loop for cyclists and joggers that is separate from our belt highway. This idea needs private investors to make it happen. Something like this would attract more athletes to this island. It would be a safe place to train.

Stop it, let’s move on together

The current law suit by the Office of Hawaiian Affairs against the University of Hawaii, Department of Land and Natural Resources, the state of Hawaii, Board of Land and Natural Resources, and 60 plaintiffs they can’t even identify, is just another attempt to stop the Thirty Meter Telescope.

Their complaint is largely based on a 1998 state audit, and ignores all positive improvements listed in more current audits. They claim mismanagement by UH when they themselves are often in disarray per the article from January 2017 … “Tempers flare as OHA grapples with accusations of mismanagement.”

Let’s stop all this subterfuge and move forward together.
